Interlibrary Loan

Cole Library offers interlibrary loan (ILL) services for public patrons. If Cole Library does not own the material you want, we may be able to borrow it from another library.  Some material, such as recent best sellers, some reference books, and multiple copies of an individual title, are often not available through interlibrary loan.  In addition, material owned by Cole Library is generally not borrowed from another library unless our copy is lost or missing.  Cole Library abides by copyright guidelines governing interlibrary loan. Patrons can borrow up to 5 items per month.

Interlibrary Loan Instructions

  1. Go to the library catalog page (colelibrary.on.worldcat.org/discovery).
  2. Find the book you wish to interlibrary loan in the catalog and make sure the library does not already own it. Once you’ve found the item, click on the orange button that says “Request this item through interlibrary loan”.
  3. The website will then direct you to sign in to your library account.
  4. If you are a first time user, click “set/reset password” and follow these steps:
    1. Enter your library card number.
    2. An email  with instructions for setting/resetting your password will be sent to the email address on your library account.  If you do not have an email on your library account, call (319) 895-4271 to add one.
    3. Follow the instructions in the email.
    4. Once your password is set, sign in to your library account.
  5. Complete the interlibrary loan form.
