United Way of East Central Iowa returns to Cole Library to offer their VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) services. UWECI, along with Cornell College Economics and Business students, will offer free tax preparation to households in Benton, Cedar, Jones, and Linn Counties with a total income of less than
$69,000. Tax preparation sessions will run every Monday and Tuesday evening from 6:00-9:00pm through April 7th in Room 108 on the library’s first floor. VITA is an IRS-sponsored initiative.
To get your taxes prepared, you will need to register on UWECI’s website and bring:
– A government ID for the yourself and a spouse (if applicable)
– Social Security card for yourself and all household members
– All 2025 tax documents (including any wage and earning statements such as W-2, W-2G, 1099-R, and 1099-NEC from all employers)
– Your 2024 tax return
