In April, Lisbon Library will host a series of classes offered by Linn County Master Gardeners. Four Master Gardeners will present a garden program on four consecutive Wednesday evenings starting at 6:30 at Lisbon Library. The classes are free and not require pre-registration. This is a collaborative program with Cole Library – the libraries switch off hosting Master Gardener Talks each year.
The subjects and presenters are as follows:
April 2nd: Homesteading with Karelyn Pohl, LCMG
Learning to become self-sufficient or living “off the grid” is no easy feat. In this class, Karelyn Pohl will talk about everything from establishing fruits and perennial vegetables to managing the harvest at the end of the season.
April 9th: Spring Bulbs: Cottage Gardening in Iowa with Melanie Smith, LCMG
Linn County Master Gardner Melanie Smith will share the history of cottage gardens and what plants you can use in Iowa to make your own little cottage garden.
April 16th: Gardening for Good Health with Diane Wiesenfeld, LCMG
The benefits of gardening extend far beyond growing beautiful flowers and fresh vegetables. Gardening also keeps us active and in tune with our natural surroundings.
