Summer Reading Program & Activities

Summer Reading Kickoff Party:
Tuesday, May 24th from 5:00 – 6:30pm
at Hills Bank & Trust in Mount Vernon

Join Cole Public Library as we officially kick off the summer reading program with a party at the Mount Vernon Hills Bank. The theme this year is Read Beyond the Beaten Path. The kickoff will include games, treats, and signing up for the summer reading program. Get excited for summer reading at “Camp Cole Library”! If you are unable to attend, you can still sign up at the library’s 1st floor circulation desk after May 24th. Our summer activities run June 1st – July 31st.

Kids Summer Reading Program:

This year we are trying something new to celebrate our return to summer library fun.  You will get your t-shirt when you come to Cole Library for the first time during our Summer Reading Program (June 1st or after).  Once you have your summer t-shirt, each time you come to the library you will get a token to place in a box in front of the grand prize you hope to win at the end of the summer. Prizes include a kid’s camping set, jumbo smores basket, walkie-talkies, and much more. Token are handed out at the 1st floor circulation desk. The more you come to the library the greater your chances of winning!

Teen Summer Reading Program:

Middle and high school patrons, read books to get books! Sign up at the kickoff or the 1st floor circulation desk and pick up a reading log. For every 500 pages you read, select a book from our Teen Summer Reading shelf.
