Art Exhibition

Cole Public Library and the Mount Vernon Area Arts Council are excited to host an art exhibit of local artist Sarah Lynn Fitzgerald’s work. Join Fitzgerald, Mount Vernon Area Arts Council’s first Artist-in-Residence, for an exhibit of her artwork on Sunday, January 21st, from 2:00-4:00pm in the library’s 3rd floor gallery space. Fitzgerald will hold an artist’s talk at 3:00pm. Fanciful Vignettes is a collection of work that contains drawings and paintings as well as photo collages of drawings set in natural environments. These artworks feature a myriad of symbols, such as targets, eyes and an array of hybrid entities, combining elements of plants, animals, insects, and humans. Many of these creations carry a whimsical quality symbolizing our ever evolving need to adapt to the changing world. Some of the work documents her practice of creating small drawings and paintings that she transiently positions within natural landscapes settings. Examples of this work can be found on Instagram: @sarahlynnfitzgerald.
